09:00 - 12:30

Workshop - Working with the Technical Industries

This new emerging sector within the GS1 world has immense potential for GS1 globally and includes Defence, Energy, Engineering, Mass Transit (aerospace, automotive, maritime and rail), Mining and Construction.

Whilst this is a broad range of sectors, a majority of manufacturers of parts and finished products supply to several of these sectors at the same time. Proprietary identification systems across suppliers and across these sectors are an inhibiting factor for an efficient supply chain, global traceability and effective product lifecycle management. And most of these challenges also apply within the production processes of our current GS1 members worldwide.

The training will focus on how GS1 standards address industry’s challenges such as counterfeiting and safety, rising cost pressures, the absence of interoperability within and between sectors in focus, lack of consistent data and the difficult transition to the digital factory.

The training will include:

• Introduction to Technical Industries and the key business processes in focus

• Challenges per sector and GS1 solutions available:

     - Serialisation & Parts Inventory Management,

     - Maintenance and Repair Operations (MRO) & Direct Parts Marking,

     - Product-/Data Lifecycle Management, Condition Monitoring and Digital Factory (Industry 4.0)

• Recent GS1 successes and other real-world case studies

09:00 - 12:30
