As a special activity during the weekend before the GS1 in Europe Regional Forum 2019 in Milan, GS1 in Europe and GS1 Italy are organizing a bike ride on some of the most famous cycling routes around Milan.
It will be held on Saturday, 12 October leaving early from the Rosa Hotel and coming back in Milan on Saturday evening. It will be opened up to max 10 participants for organizational constraints.
The ride will be in an area near some lakes, Como and other smaller ones, and will touch some mythical locations for cyclists like Madonna del Ghisallo (with a small church and a museum dedicated to cyclists) and Colma di Sormano (with the well-known "Muro", a steeping road up to 24%. Only for the bravest and strongest!!!).
To add even more fun, the same day there is on the same routes a classical autumnal professional race, the "Lombardia", usually run by some of the world strongest cyclists (just to say the last Tour de France winner, Egan Bernal, should be there).
We will ride there before the race and we will find a good place to see the race passing and support our own favourite champion.
The tour is around 62km long and includes some climbing (1600m D+, see details below) with a medium dificulty degree (doable but some specific training on the bicycle is required) and many great views on the lake and the surrounding mountains. It should last around 4/5 hours on the bike, with some breaks and lunch on the top of the hill (Colma di Sormano).
The participant fee is around 100€ and includes road bicycle (Cinelli carbon body), accessories and mechanical assistance, transfer from/to Milan city centre and food.
Further details on timing and logistics will be communicated later.
Please send an email to Diogo Almeida (firstname.lastname@example.org) with Andrea Ausili (email@example.com) in cc. Please be aware that for this cycling tour we have only 10 places available due organisational aspects, so we can only guarantee this activity for the first 10 registrations. Be fast!
On the 13th of October in the morning, one of the well-known Italian radio is organising a race around Milan – Deejayten run. What a coincidence, it is only one day before our big week, and it could be a great opportunity to discover Milan! If you are interested in participating you can find further information and register here. If you decide to participate please let us know because we are forming a GS1 in Europe team and will have goodies for you. Just send an email to Diogo Almeida firstname.lastname@example.org)
