Strong Foundations – GS1 identifiers in BIM |
• Because we are in Athens, I would like to present something that is related to Greece and GS1.
• The idea is to explain the role of integers in Ancient Greece, making reference to Pythagoras and the validity of his theories that are still applicable in the digital age.
• He believed that everything could be reduced to numbers. Moreover, that things “are” numbers or “resembled” numbers, and that things are measurable and commensurable or proportional in terms of number.
• GTIN per se is a “global unique identification number” that can be assigned to an object into a BIM model and then a physical version of the same is manufacturedwhich we call a digital twin. They can be resemblant, measurable and commensurable.
• Therefore, the idea is to create a parallel with Pythagoras’ thinking and how the same principle can be applied in a digital era, with GS1 standards as a strong foundation for identification and procurement within BIM processes. |
HellasTrace: Building resilient brands through TRUST |
Ancient Greeks acknowledged trust as an imperative merit and built on this, as well their epic feats and their monumental scientific, cultural, architectural and philosophical achievements. Nowadays, for modern businesses, building and maintaining trust with their consumers is not only a “corporate Odyssey”, but also a competitive advantage of the highest importance. Walking through the streets of the ancient world’s cradle, the birthplace of modern Western world, we will revisit the “trust” approach by discussing the process of how companies can inculcate it in their brands using EPCIS standard and showing live how Greek (and not only!) consumers can enjoy it through the HellasTrace traceability tool! |
Member Area: A new way for supporting each member as a VIP! |
Establishing a members’ area has created a whole new level of customer service, working as a two-way communication channel between the companies and our MO, aiming to become the single point to ask and get support. From GTIN and GLN allocation, barcode and pallet label creation, to ticketing management and product uploading to ‘Verified by GS1’, our members’ area helps companies getthe job done easily and accurately, treating each one as the VIP they are! Join us as we tell you what led to this initiative, the difficulties we faced, the platform’s main capabilities, the advantages for users (both companies and our employees!), the challenges we have to overcome and what we’re working on next. |
